Ijen Crater Blue Fire: High Acidity Level of the Crater make a Beautiful Blue Fire

Ijen crater is one of two craters in the world that shows us the beautiful view of the natural blue fire. The location is in the natural reservation park located between Bondowoso and Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. Ijen crater blue fire is the crater of acid in which the level of acidity is very high.

Apart from the high level of acidity, it shows us the beauty of natural blue fire on the edge. This beautiful blue fire was found in the 1950s by the local people who mined sulfur.  This location is also well known as the place for sulfur mining. You will see the miners who work in a traditional way.

The blue fire Ijen, it is well known by the people who are amazed at this natural view. This place can be visited best in summer (July-September). It is not recommended to visit this place in winter because the location will be reached harder. The best time to see this blue fire is from 2 am till 4 am.

This place is not only the best place to see the blue fire but also the place to see the sunrise. From this place, you can also see the mountains range around Ijen volcano. You will never find a place that can make you amazed by showing you beautiful blue fire, sunrise, and mountains range.

To reach the crater, it takes about 4 hours climbing Ijen volcano. The high of this volcano is about 2.443 meters. To see this unique blue fire phenomenon will take time but your fatigue will be replaced by your astonishment. You will start climbing uphill around 1,5 kilometers so make sure you are in the best condition.

The temperature here can be said extreme. It can be 5-degree Celsius so don't forget to wear a jacket or other warm clothes to keep your temperature. In this trip, you can take a rest in the rest point named Pos Bunder before climbing down to the edge of the crater.

In climbing this volcano, it is best for you to bring suitable belongings. Saving space in your bag is good to save your energy so make sure you bring the right items. In the parking area (Paltuding) you will find some stalls of eating to enjoy coffee or tea before or after your best trip at Ijen volcano so you don't need to bring food that makes your bag heavy.
