Bukit Jambul: Green Forest and Rice Terrace with View Agung Volcano

Bukit Jambul or Jambul Hill may not very familiar as a tourist place in Bali, but this spot is worthy enough to be in your list. Bukit Jambul offers you the natural green view, as the combination of the forest and rice terrace. When the weather is good, you can get the view of the blue sky, green nature and the Agung volcano as the backdrop. All this view will you enjoy from above, where the parking lot is located, while you take a rest after a long trip.

You can find Bukit Jambul around 15 km or 30 minutes from Besakih Temple, the biggest temple in Bali. Bukit Jambul is pretty big, it is located in two different villages, Pesaban Village and Nongan Village in Rendang District, Karangasem Regency. Even though it is in Karangasem, it is also close to Klungkung Regency, about 10 Km. From Denpasar, it is about 51 km and takes 2, 5 hours to get to Bukit Jambul.

Located in 500 meters above the sea level, Bukit Jambul has a cool temperature, even for the local people, they may need a jacket or sweater when they are here. The spot where you can park your vehicles and take a rest makes you can enjoy the combination of blue sky, green forest and rice terrace with Agung Volcano as the backdrop clearly. When the weather is good, you can also find Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan from here. A lot of people come to this spot to enjoy the view with calm atmosphere after a long day trip or after praying in Besakih Temple, the biggest temple in Bali.

Bukit Jambul actually was found by the Netherlands in the colonialism period in Bali. A lot of them like to enjoy the view of the rice terrace from above. The rice terrace with the tall trees around it makes people think it looks like "jambul" or "crested" in English. This is where the name "Bukit Jambul" or in English literally means "Crested Hill" comes from. Nowadays you will find some restaurants around this area offers you good foods with the mesmerizing view of Bukit Jambul to accompany your lunch. This is a perfect place if you are looking for a place with a calm atmosphere and mesmerizing view to take a rest after a long day trip or simply just for lunch before you continue your trip.
